Hello World

Hello World!  My name is Rene' Allen.  I am a Christian mother of 3 boys, yes, all boys.  Many will say, "Bless your heart."  Others will say, "I'm glad it's you, not me."  Still, others will say, "Girl, you have your hands full."  Well, I do have my hands full, but I am completely giddy that it is me, not you.  I love my boys.  Even more so, I love Jesus.

I am a new single mother, but I am not allowing that to get in my way!  I have been set on a path by God Most High, and He will never allow me to fail.  I am a full-time student of East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and a part-time employee of McDonald's.  McDonald's was supposed to be temporary, but then they gave me a scholarship, so, commitments.  However, ETSU is a huge milestone for me.  I am so very excited and completely overwhelmed at the same time.  I feel like Moses when he told God and the burning bush, "I can not speak eloquently, they will not listen."  My version sounds more like, "God, I'm about as southern as they come, I talk like a hillbilly, I am 35 years old and just getting started, what are ya thinkin'?"  God used Moses to free the Israelites from Pharaoh, and He will one day use me to inspire the hearts and minds of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

My hillbilly talk is getting much better.  Although I graduated high school with a less than desirable GPA in the year 2000, I have held a 4.0 for four semesters.  God works miracles!  I have been blessed to be a part of the Midway Honors Scholars at ETSU.  As a matter of fact, this blog is an assignment for my Honors Colloquial class, otherwise known as, "Collo."  Don't ask me what that means, no 0ne knows yet.  It is important though!  I am very excited about this class and all of the assignments discussed so far.  I am so much older than the rest of the Honors Scholars, but I truly believe that we will become a united force that will impact our campus for our fellow students.

As a mom of boys, may the force, and Jesus, be with you!
